An upward view places weathered red, blue, and green boards beneath a dense canopy of coconut palms. The sun breaks through the fronds in a sharp starburst, linking the saturated foreground with the fine lines of foliage overhead.
The story
I looked up from the bright boards into a canopy that seemed to hold the sun between its leaves. From this angle, the boards and palm trunks shared the same upward reach, their surfaces marked in different ways. I wanted to keep those small signs of wear alongside the brilliance of the light. What held my attention was the pause: objects made for movement standing quietly beneath the palms.
