A pier cuts diagonally across this monochrome seascape, its repeating supports receding toward the horizon. Illuminated lamps punctuate the structure, while softened water and broad cloud formations contrast with the dense texture of seaweed along the shore.
The story
I stood at the edge of the seaweed-covered sand and let the pier lead my eye out to sea. Its lamps were small but distinct against the clouded sky, marking a route beyond the shore. I wanted to hold the weight of those supports against the softness of the moving water. From here, the structure seemed to grow lighter with distance, until its far end was barely more than a line above the waves.
