The story

June light spreads through the clouds and settles across the water. Along the pier, slender lamps diminish into the distance, marking a path above the surf. A person near the railing becomes a faint overlap of gestures, while the concrete supports remain sharply defined. Below, the sea washes into a pale veil, leaving dark strands of seaweed on the sand.
