About this piece

A weathered white sailboat sits to the right of an open expanse of amber water and sky. Its mast and wavering reflection create a long vertical line, counterbalanced by fine horizontal ripples and the faint silhouettes of distant boats.

The story

I framed the boat to one side, leaving room for the golden water that seemed to hold it in place. My eye kept returning to the mast: straight against the sky, restless in its reflection. Beyond it, smaller boats and scattered buoys marked the distance without disturbing the quiet. I wanted to keep that contrast—the worn hull, the delicate lines of rigging, and the light that made everything around them feel almost weightless.
