A Green Radiance

About this piece

Light passing through a fan palm leaf reveals fine veins between strong, radiating folds. Deep green gives way to luminous yellow, while scattered brown markings interrupt the leaf’s precise geometry.

The story

I moved close enough for the leaf to fill my frame, leaving the surrounding place outside the photograph. From the shadow near its stem, each fold carried my eye outward into green and yellow light. What held me there were the small interruptions: brown streaks, uneven patches, the delicate lines between the ribs. I wanted to keep that meeting of order and wear, where a single leaf could feel both expansive and intimately familiar.
