About this piece

A deeply furrowed trunk and spreading green canopy frame a sunlit shoreline, where shallow water meets a level horizon. The tree’s twisting forms contrast with the horizontal bands of sand and sea, balancing sculptural detail with open space.

The story

I framed the shore beneath the tree’s long reach, letting its weathered wood fill one side of the photograph while the sea opened on the other. Light caught the ridges of the bark and turned the leaves a vivid green. Beyond them, the horizon offered a quieter line. What held my attention was that contrast: so much movement written into the tree, and so little needed from the water.
