Mike Gedj frames a dense arrangement of pointed leaves, their green centers bordered by pale bands and vivid red teeth. Selective focus traces the serrated contours while surrounding foliage dissolves into luminous fields of yellow, orange, and green.

The story

I moved closer until the plant filled the frame and its surroundings slipped out of view. What held me was the thin red line along each leaf, interrupted by small, sharp teeth. Against the pale bands, those edges seemed almost incandescent. I followed one pointed blade through the overlapping foliage, letting the others soften behind it. For a moment, the whole composition rested on that contrast between brilliant color and a precise, defensive edge.
