About this piece
Vividly painted wooden chairs and tables fill a waterfront terrace beneath lime-green umbrellas, their colors reflected in the wet decking. Strong sunlight and a cloud-filled blue sky intensify the panoramic composition, while a distant Coast Guard vessel provides a measured counterpoint to the lively foreground.
The story
On this late-September day, sunlight catches the droplets on painted wood. Empty chairs gather around tables in red, turquoise, violet, and yellow, each offering a different place to pause. Beyond the railing, the water opens into a broad blue interval, with a white ship set against the distant shore. The terrace holds its bright, unoccupied stillness beneath the spreading umbrellas.
