Green Intervals

Transmitted light reveals the fine veining of palm foliage, turning its folded surfaces into luminous bands of green. Strong diagonals span the frame, interrupted by an opening where blue and white highlights dissolve into soft circles.

The story

I moved close enough for the leaf to fill the frame, letting the wider scene fall away. Light passing through the green revealed a fine network of veins between the heavier ribs. Through the opening, the background became blue circles and a pale flare, more color than place. I held the composition there, drawn to the contrast between the leaf’s precise structure and everything left beautifully unresolved beyond it.
