About this piece

A flamingo’s coral neck traces a broad curve across water patterned with luminous green reflections. The close framing reveals fine feather textures and a pale yellow eye, while a small splash beneath the bill interrupts the rippled surface.

The story

I followed the curve of the flamingo’s neck through the frame, drawn to the coral color against the restless green water. Its eye remained a small, clear point among the shifting reflections. Beneath the bill, a brief thread of water caught the light and broke the surface into rings. I wanted to hold that meeting of feather and water, where the bird’s smallest movement changed the pattern around it.
