A Beacon In Amber

About this piece
An open-frame lighthouse rises above a palm-lined waterfront beneath an expansive amber sky. Its glowing lantern and slender supports counterbalance the low breakwater and small white structure at the right, while dark reflections stretch across the foreground water. Brilliant cloud edges beneath a heavy cloud bank lend the scene a quiet intensity.
The story
August light fills the cloud breaks with gold. Among the palms, the lighthouse holds its bright lantern above the tangled fronds and slender trunks. The water softens their shapes into long, dark reflections, carrying amber between them. Beyond the rocks, a narrow strip of sea opens beneath the immense sky.
