The story

Late June light rests on the rounded sides of the dinghies, each fitted into the narrow space beside its neighbor. Across the dock, nets hang heavy and bright crates stand stacked beside the moored boats. A small ripple loosens the reflected rigging into wavering lines. Above this crowded arrangement, the mountain ridge offers one continuous, unhurried edge.
