Coiled ropes, raised motors, and weathered surfaces give the scene the intimate texture of everyday waterfront life.

The story

On this late-June day, blue stretches across the little canopy above a polished wooden wheel. Boats rest shoulder to shoulder, their narrow gaps holding dark ribbons of water. Along the dock, ropes lie in loose coils; beside the wheel, an empty seat waits. Nothing departs, and the bright colors hold their place above the wavering reflections.
