Beyond the White Gate

A white wooden gate opens visually onto winding stairs, stone terraces, and a broad sea dotted with sailboats. Saturated yellow and orange light fills the sky and water, contrasting with the dark steps and curved white walls. The descending foreground gives the composition depth, carrying the eye from an intimate threshold toward the distant horizon.

The story

Late July light spreads across the water, turning the small boats into dark marks on gold. Behind the white gate, the staircase bends out of sight between smooth plaster and rough stone. Flowers hold pockets of pink along the terraces, while a small wall light glows beneath the curve of a parapet. The sea remains open beyond these enclosing walls, its fine ripples catching the last brightness.
