Two pale dinghies sit side by side against a dock, framed by cropped boats crowded with everyday equipment. Bright light reveals scuffed paint, weathered oars and vivid blue rope, while dark reflections extend the hulls into the lower half of the composition. The close arrangement gives this practical waterside scene an unhurried intimacy.
The story
Late June light rests inside the boats, finding the grain of an oar and the rough edges of worn paint. A blue rope gathers in loose coils beneath the bow, its colour sharp against the white interior. Beside it, another dinghy holds a small accumulation of ropes, poles and gear. The dock draws a firm line behind them, but below, the water loosens every edge. For now, departure remains only a possibility.
