The story

Early May light gathers in the clouds above the open bridge. The roadway stands lifted on either side, its dark grating exposed to the sky. Below, small ripples break the reflections into shifting bands, and a white yacht rests beside the waterfront. For a moment, the space between the spans feels larger than the structure itself.
