The story

I framed the little red engine against the mountain, drawn to the difference in their scale. Its painted metal caught the sunlight with a brightness that stood apart from the blue slopes and green leaves. Across the foreground, the rails made a gentle curve through the red earth. I kept the nearby tree in the frame, letting its branches hold the sky above a scene that seemed poised between a journey and a pause.
