A succession of brick arches narrows toward a shadowed opening left of center, drawing the eye through a long, empty passage. Warm light reveals the textured masonry and casts bright bands across the rough floor, giving the composition a measured rhythm and quiet depth.

The story

In the first days of January, sunlight lays a sequence of bright thresholds across the passage. Each arch holds another within it, smaller and farther away. The bricks glow ochre where the light reaches them, while the vaults retain their deep brown shadows. At the far end, darkness interrupts the pattern, leaving the eye to linger at its edge.
