A breaking wave rises behind a jagged outcrop, scattering white spray across the blue-gray sky. Even daylight reveals the warm, fractured surfaces of the rocks, whose weight anchors the composition against the lifted water and open sea.
The story
Late June light rests on the ochre faces of the rocks. A swell gathers at their edge, showing a brief seam of turquoise before it breaks into white. For a moment, spray fills the air above the stone, each droplet distinct against the muted sky. Foam slips through the lower crevices and spreads back across the blue water.
