A Window for Light

About this piece
A white lighthouse rises against a pale, clouded sky, framed by an irregular opening in weathered wooden planks. Warm ochre markings and deeply ridged grain surround the cool blue-gray distance, contrasting the broad horizontal boards with the slender tower. The enclosed view lends the lighthouse a quiet, watchful presence.
The story
Late June light settles across the timber, catching its worn edges and golden patches. Through the opening, the sky offers a cool relief from the dense grain of the boards. The lighthouse stands within this small clearing of space, its lantern enclosed in glass and dark metal. Near wood and distant tower hold different traces of weather, brought together by a single line of sight.
