The story

Late June light warms the timber and canvas of Santa Barbara’s waterfront. Beneath the water-taxi sign, the harbor gathers its contrasting surfaces: polished wood, weathered pilings, bright hulls, and dark shoreline rocks. Masts rise through the blue, their reflections wavering in the narrow spaces between boats. Along the walkway, the eye follows the water inward, where the busy marina settles into a quieter rhythm.
