Where Gold Gathers

About this piece
A close overhead view gathers orange, red, and white koi into a dense composition of overlapping bodies and rippling water. Bright highlights trace the surface, while saturated blue reflections interrupt the warm colors and bend the outlines of scales, fins, and faces. The tight framing creates an intimate, restless encounter.
The story
On this December day, the water holds a brightness that seems outside the calendar. A golden koi curves through the left side of the frame, its scales briefly legible beneath the ripples. Nearby, pale bodies slide under blue reflections, and an open red mouth meets the surface. Each movement loosens the picture into ribbons of color, then gathers it again around an eye or a fin.
