The story

January light spreads gold across the green slope, leaving the cliff’s seaward folds in shadow. Cars follow the narrow bend, their small shapes held between the rock face and the water below. Along the beach, a thin edge of foam traces the sand before dissolving into turquoise. The road and the surf draw separate curves around the same headland.
