A wide composition gathers flamingos in brilliant orange, soft pink, and white against deep shadow. Selective illumination emphasizes the texture of their feathers and the varied curves of their necks, turning the flock into a rhythmic arrangement of color and form.
The story
I watched the flock become a pattern of necks and feathers, each bird holding a slightly different line. In the light, the orange plumage seemed almost impossible beside the quieter pinks and whites. I framed the birds against the darkness, letting the surroundings fall away. What held my attention was the space between them: small intervals of black that gave each curve its own presence within the gathering.
