The story

August light fills the opening between the branches, catching leaves and breaking into bright flecks on the water. Rowboats carry their passengers across the green surface, apart from the gathering along the distant terrace. Above the trees, straight rows of windows rise into a clear blue sky. From within the shade, the city feels held at the far edge of the lake.
