Veins of Ember

Light passing through a palm frond reveals fine parallel veins in bands of amber, coral, and gold. A dark central stem anchors the diagonal composition, while glimpses of green foliage lend depth to this tightly framed botanical study.

The story

I was drawn to the light between the leaflets, then to the light held inside them. Through the camera, the palm became a sequence of warm bands, each edged by shadow and threaded with fine lines. I kept the frame close, letting the surrounding green appear only through the gaps. What held my attention was that contrast: the dark strength of the stem beside the almost weightless glow of the leaf.
