Mike Gedj captures a Blue Angels jet in a steep bank, its blue and yellow surfaces partly veiled by white condensation. The aircraft cuts diagonally across the frame, contrasting precise mechanical contours with the shifting forms of vapor.
The story
I followed the aircraft through the blue, watching its wings turn toward me. For a moment, white vapor gathered across the surfaces, making the air itself visible. I framed the diagonal sweep, from the dark nose to the yellow wingtip, with nothing but sky around it. What held my attention was that brief contrast: the hard outline of the machine and the soft, vanishing shape of the atmosphere.
