Two military aircraft cross a cloudless blue field, the angular flying wing of a B-2 above the long fuselage and paired engine pods of a B-52. Sunlight traces their edges while their undersides remain in cool shadow; a broad interval of sky separates the contrasting forms and gives the vertical composition its suspended stillness.
The story
Late-May light draws a fine bright line along the wings. Above, one aircraft gathers its shape into a dark, almost continuous plane; below, the other opens into wings, engines, and tail. The eye travels between them through an unbroken expanse of blue. For this instant, their passage becomes a study of distance, with nothing on the ground to measure it.
