About this piece

Seen from below, a flying-wing stealth bomber spans the blue sky, its swept leading edges and serrated rear profile forming a stark geometric shape. Sunlight outlines the wings and catches details across the shadowed underside, while the surrounding negative space gives the imposing aircraft a suspended stillness.

The story

In the clear light of late May, a dark wing crosses an uninterrupted field of blue. A narrow brightness follows its edge, separating metal from sky. Beneath it, seams and markings emerge from shadow; a small red light punctuates one wing. For this held instant, the eye follows the angular outline rather than the journey beyond the frame.
