The story

I followed the jet through the viewfinder as it banked, its yellow markings bright against the blue. For a moment, white vapor revealed the air moving over the wings. Below, the container ship held a quieter line along the horizon. I kept both in the frame, drawn to the distance between them: two ways of crossing the same expanse, one measured in a sudden turn, the other in a long passage.
