A diagonal shoreline gathers beachgoers and brightly colored umbrellas along an expansive field of turquoise water. Seen from above, swimmers become small marks of movement, while the pier and distant horizon give the lively scene a measured geometry.
The story
From above, I watched the beach resolve into patches of blue, scattered figures, and repeating lines of foam. My eye kept moving between the crowded sand and the open water, where a boat threw up a bright fan of spray. I wanted to hold both scales in the frame: the small space each person claimed for the afternoon, and the sea stretching far beyond them.
