About this piece

Two cats hold the foreground beneath weathered green steps lined with boots, sandals, and bowls. Saturated greens and small accents of orange and red frame their attentive gazes, bringing a quiet formality to this everyday arrangement.

The story

I framed the cats against the green steps, letting the worn boots and bright bowls remain part of their world. One sat squarely in front of me; the other watched from just behind, its white chest standing out against the wood. What drew me in was the balance between their alert faces and the casual scatter of things around them. For a moment, this small patch of stone seemed entirely theirs.
