Three flamingos emerge in saturated orange and pink against deeply shadowed trees and water. Their contrasting postures establish a measured rhythm, while slender legs and curved necks counter the rough vertical lines of the trunks.
The story
I was drawn to the way the light separated the flamingos from the trees, leaving their feathers bright against the shaded background. One lowered its head toward the ground; another faced away, its neck almost parallel to the trunks. Between them, the third held a clear profile. I framed the three together, wanting to keep their separate gestures within one image—the bend, the upright line, and the long curve between.
