A Sun Beneath Shelter

About this piece
A painted sun ornament fills the frame, its orange face surrounded by multicolored rays within a slender blue ring. Daylight filtering through the overhead slats catches the textured surface, while the close, upward-looking composition sets its radial symmetry against the diagonal wooden beams. The smiling face and saturated palette lend the sheltered space a playful warmth.
The story
On this March day, daylight slips between the roof slats and meets a sun that needs no open sky. Its blue eyes look outward beneath fine painted lashes, while pink, green, and yellow rays hold their places around the orange face. Spirals, flowers, and crossed lines give each point its own small rhythm. Beyond the blue rim, latticework and other bright ornaments soften into the background, leaving this painted smile to fill the shelter.
