Mike Gedj’s close study of variegated foliage traces vivid pink margins around deep green leaves streaked with orange. Fine parallel veins remain visible in the foreground, while softer leaves and luminous background highlights lend depth to the tightly framed composition.

The story

I was drawn first to the pink edges, thin lines of color that seemed to lift each leaf away from the next. Moving closer, I found quieter details beneath that brightness: fine veins, dark green centers, small streaks of orange. I framed the leaves so that their rising shapes filled the view, leaving only a little of the luminous background. For a moment, the whole place became this meeting of color and light.
