Where the Palms Gather

A thatched watersports hut and bright kayaks occupy the sandy foreground, while palms frame the low sun beside a calm sea. Wispy clouds stretch across the expansive sky, carrying pale pink and gold into the deeper blue above.

The story

I framed the beach with the shuttered hut to one side and the kayaks resting near the water. Their bright hulls held my eye before the light drew it upward, through the palms and into those long, feathered clouds. Footprints covered the sand, but no one stood in the frame. I liked that trace of activity beneath such an open sky: a place made for movement, caught in a moment of stillness.
