The story

November light gathers in a warm band above the horizon, beneath clouds that deepen toward blue. Small birds rest along the wires, their silhouettes interrupting the long sweep toward the distance. Beside them, the bridge repeats its shadowed arches over water that looks almost soft to the touch. Both lines draw the eye outward, until their separate rhythms become a single point.
