The Weight Of Flight

About this piece

Seen from below, a gray military aircraft extends diagonally across a blue sky, its pointed nose balanced by broad wings and paired engine housings. Sunlight traces the upper contours while cool shadow reveals the structure beneath, giving the airborne form a sculptural weight.

The story

Late May light catches the nose and runs along the wing edges. Below the fuselage, shadow gathers in seams, panels, and engine openings. The aircraft fills the view, yet blue remains around it, unbroken by any horizon. For this instant, forward motion takes the shape of something held in place.
