At the end of US Route 1 in Key West, a pastel bicycle anchors a sunlit street scene beneath the mile zero marker. Pink wheel rims, a red hydrant, and a vivid blue sky bring strong color to a composition threaded with spokes, overhead wires, and crisp pavement shadows.
The story
I framed the bicycle beneath the signs, drawn to the contrast between a road's official ending and a pair of wheels ready to carry on. Above it, wires crossed the blue sky; beyond it, traffic continued along Fleming Street. The pink rims and patterned basket gave the corner a playful scale. Here at mile zero, I found less of a finish line than an invitation to take my time.
