Converging railings and weathered planks draw the eye toward a small pavilion at the end of the pier. Coral, gold, and rose tones spread across sky and water, softening the strong geometry of the walkway.
The story
I stood at the center of the pier, letting the railings guide my eye toward the small roof on the horizon. The boards held their own quieter colors beneath the bright sky: violet shadows, reddish grain, narrow seams of darkness. Far ahead, a few figures gave the distance its scale. I framed the path with water on either side, drawn to the way something so solid could seem to lead directly into light.
