The story

I watched the hillside become a constellation of windows and terraces while the sea held its deep blue. Above the windmills, a narrow band of sunset lingered beneath the clouds. My eye kept moving between the open water and the close weave of stairways, each offering a different kind of distance. I framed them together: the village gathering its evening light, and the horizon leaving room for the last color of the day.
