Sunlit planks and blue rope railings draw the eye along a wooden pier toward an open expanse of turquoise water. Crisp shadows trace the walkway, setting its weathered grain against the soft variations of color in the shallows.
The story
I stopped where the ropes seemed to gather the blue of the water into a single line. Beneath the pier, pale patches of seabed gave way to deeper turquoise, while the boards held every small ridge and split in the sunlight. I framed the walkway straight ahead, letting its shadows lead toward the distant strips of land. What drew me was the simple invitation to keep walking, even though the path would end before the horizon.
