Tall pines rise above a grassy shoreline, their slender trunks reflected in the pond to the right. Bright greens and ochre tones gather along the water’s edge, while the expansive pale sky opens the upper frame.

The story

I followed the grassy edge until the pond opened beside me and the pines stretched clear of the lower woodland. What held my attention was the meeting of surfaces: rough grass, dark water, and the pale sky above. I framed the bank as it narrowed into the distance, leaving room for the tall trunks and their reflections. For a moment, the way ahead mattered less than the light along its edge.
