Three lantern arrangements form a staggered rhythm across luminous turquoise water, their circular bases ringed with colored glass spheres, rope, and netting. The sharply detailed foreground gives way to softer distant forms, while reflections extend the lanterns into wavering lines.
The story
I framed the nearest lantern low in the image, leaving room for the water to carry the eye toward the other two. What held my attention was the contrast between the dark metal frames and the bright glass gathered around their bases. Each small ripple loosened their reflections, turning straight edges into uncertain lines. I wanted the photograph to keep that balance: solid objects, brilliant color, and a surface that would never quite hold still.
