About this piece
A twin-engine fighter jet banks across a clear blue sky, its angular surfaces partly veiled by white condensation. Sunlight catches the gray fuselage and canopy while two orange afterburners punctuate the cool palette. The diagonal composition holds the aircraft's forceful movement within an otherwise empty field.
The story
On the first day of 2019, the sky offers an unbroken blue around the turning aircraft. White vapor gathers over the wings, softening their sharp geometry. Two orange cores burn beneath the tail, trailing faint tongues of color. The new year finds a fleeting shape here: metal, light, and air held together for an instant.
