Massive, weathered tree limbs form an irregular opening onto turquoise water and a low, cloud-lined horizon. Strong sunlight reveals the golden seabed and a fallen branch in the shallows, contrasting with the deeply furrowed bark in the foreground. The enclosing wood gives this open coastal view an intimate, sheltered stillness.
The story
May light falls through the opening between the limbs and brightens the shallow water. A bleached branch rests just offshore, its crooked length echoing the larger curves that surround it. Small ripples pass over the visible stones, breaking sunlight into shifting lines. Beyond the rough enclosure of bark, white clouds gather above a level sea.
