A sand-dusted boardwalk descends between weathered posts and rope rails toward a palm-framed beach and two sailboats offshore. Strong sunlight casts long shadows across the planks, while saturated greens and turquoise water contrast with the pale sand. Converging rails draw the eye from the textured foreground into the open horizon.
The story
On this second day of January, the year opens onto blue water and sunlit palms. Sand gathers in the grooves of the boardwalk, softening the lines beneath the long shadows. Beyond the last posts, small waves mark the beach with narrow edges of white. Two sailboats stand apart offshore, their slender masts echoing the palm trunks. The path ends at the sand, leaving the eye to travel farther.
