Fire Across the Blue

About this piece

A silver fighter jet banks through a saturated blue sky, surrounded by burning flares and long ribbons of white smoke. Sunlight catches its angular surfaces, while the descending trails sweep diagonally across the frame. The contrast between precise metal geometry and dispersing smoke gives the image a suspended tension.

The story

On this January day, the sky holds a brief arrangement of metal, smoke, and fire. Light flashes on the canopy as the aircraft turns, its sharp silhouette set against the blue. The flares draw bright points downward, leaving white trails that curl and loosen behind them. What begins as a pattern of near-parallel lines gradually opens into haze.
