About this piece
Painted floats hang in overlapping rows, led by a large turquoise-and-orange form at the right of the frame. Strong sunlight reveals its rough, cracked surface, while shallow focus softens the yellow, coral, and brown shapes behind it. Repeated curves and vertical ropes give the bright composition a measured, playful rhythm.
The story
On this March day, sunlight catches the raised grain of the painted floats. Orange meets blue along an uneven edge, each ridge holding a small highlight or shadow. Behind the nearest sphere, other colors recede into the green blur of foliage. The ropes hold their quiet vertical lines, gathering this scattered brightness into rows.
