A Chorus Of Color

About this piece

Round ornaments painted in vivid bands of turquoise, red, yellow, and violet hang from knotted ropes beneath arching palm fronds. Strong sunlight reveals their rough surfaces, while overlapping forms and cropped edges create a layered composition against softly focused red planters and a street beyond. The repeated circles lend a playful rhythm to this densely colored outdoor scene.

The story

On this March day, sunlight settles into the pits and ridges of painted spheres. A palm frond stretches across the hanging colors, its narrow leaflets drawing green lines above the ropes. Between the bright rounds, dark wooden beads offer small intervals of shade. Beyond this close curtain of color, the street recedes into softness, leaving the eye to linger on a knot, a stripe, a rough edge of paint.
